❯❯ About the OILERS
Edmonton (17-18-2 prior to Friday night’s game against Chicago) will be looking for some revenge after dropping a 4-3 decision in Winnipeg last Wednesday. The Oilers also fell 5-2 to the Jets on home ice in early October.
Edmonton has been playing much better of late as they get back in the playoff conversation following a terrible start to their season.
C Connor McDavid (14G, 31A entering play Friday) has been leading the way, having kicked a pair of illnesses that had been hampering him for some time. C Leon Draisaitl (9G, 22A) and C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (14G, 12A) give the Oilers three strong pillars up the middle.
There is also plenty of offensive punch on the wings, with LW Milan Lucic (9G, 17A), LW Patrick Maroon (9G, 11A), RW Jujhar Khaira (7G, 6A) and rookie RW Jesse Puljujarvi (7G, 2A) bringing a mix of size and skill.
Edmonton welcomed back D Oscar Klefbom (3G, 6A) back from injury Friday following a four-game absence. D Kris Russell (2G, 13A) and D Darnell Nurse (2G, 11A) also help provide some offence from the blue line.
Veteran G Cam Talbot (14-11-1, 2.89 GAA, .907 SV%) and G Laurent Brossoit (3-7-1, 3.22 GAA, .886 SV%) have both battled inconsistency this season.
Edmonton has struggled on special teams, with a power play that is ranked 22nd-overall (16.7%) and a penalty kill that is dead-last in the NHL (73.7%)
