Carcillo gone for two
The NHL has suspended Chicago Blackhawks forward Dan Carcillo for two games following a hit on Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Joni Pitkanen on Friday night.
Carcillo met with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan on Saturday.
The Hawks forward pushed Pitkanen into the end boards in Carolina's zone early in the first period of the Hurricanes' 3-0 victory. Carcillo did not receive a penalty on the play, while Pitkanen left the game but did return.
Carcillo will miss Saturday night's game against Columbus as well as Monday's game against Nashville.
Carcillo, who has been suspended five times in his NHL career, returns on Thursday when the Hawks play Florida.
