Valour FC announced Monday that midfielder Dylan Sacramento and forward Calum Ferguson have been granted leave to pursue playing opportunities in New Zealand.
Sacramento, a Winnipeg native, had one goal and two assists in 19 appearances this year with the Canadian Premier League soccer team. Ferguson, who struggled to get on the pitch as he was buried on the depth chart behind Michele Paolucci, Tyler Attardo and Ali Musse, had one goal in nine games.
Sacramento signed a multi-year deal with Valour and is expected to return to the club next season. Valour signed Ferguson to a one-year deal and he’s less likely to return. Sacramento was ruled out for Valour’s final two games due to injury. New Zealand’s season starts in November.
"With Dylan, obviously his injury has hampered his end of season with us, and he will continue rehabbing in New Zealand through the winter," Valour head coach Rob Gale said in a statement released by the team. "This will be great for his development to continue playing in New Zealand. For Calum, we mutually agreed to allow him to leave early and pursue a great opportunity over there as well."
