The Carillon, winner of the national best all-around newspaper award in its circulation class for the last two years, is seeking an editor to lead its Steinbach-based editorial team.
The editor plans the development of editorial content for The Carillon, as well as other specialty editorial products. The editor assigns and coordinates newspaper content in print and online, manages the department’s staff and its budget, while also contributing his or her own news articles, photo coverage, and editorial comment.
Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to multitask and work effectively under deadline pressure. The editor works closely with layout staff to provide direction and ensure the timely production of the newspaper. The ideal candidate will display strong communication skills and an appreciation for layout and design.
A post-secondary degree in Journalism and at least five years of relevant experience in print, online and/or broadcast journalism is required.
A valid driver’s licence and a vehicle are also necessary to the role.
