COLUMN: Eye on the Arts – Announcing studio series concerts

The Steinbach Arts Council is excited to announce the remaining three concerts in our newly launched Studio Series, sponsored by Oak Leaf Promotions. This series features in house concert-style performances held in the beautiful SCU Studio, located at the Steinbach Arts Council. Exceptional artists connect with a small audience creating an experience that is intimate, captivating, and extraordinary.

To Love and To Be Loved is a visual art recital that combines visual art and classical music. Performed by Karen Santos, soprano, and Medan Dufrat, piano, this concert features classical music from beloved composers such as Mozart, Turina, Dvorak, Ponce, Emery and Heggie.

Elation Pauls- Violin

Naomi Woo- Piano

Elation Pauls and Naomi Woo are two staples of the Winnipeg and Canadian classical music scene, both in their work with the WSO and beyond. They are bringing a beautiful program to our Studio Series, featuring works by Brahms, as well as Lau, Tse, and Braid, which are part of their “Sustenance” recording project involving 21st Century Canadian works for violin and piano.

Jayme Giesbrecht Combo

7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2023 | Tickets $30.00

With a voice that stirs your soul, and a conviction behind the music, Jayme Giesbrecht encapsulates soul and gospel music with every note she sings. With a career spanning over 2 decades already on her resume, Jayme has grown into the “big voice” that brought her so much attention as a child. From church stages, to exploring different styles of music with various musicians, taking on techniques in rock n’ roll, soul, and jazz added to her full voice.

SOJE (Southeast Open Judge Exhibit)

The Steinbach Arts Council loves to bring local artists together of all skill levels, and the 25th SOJE exhibit is a great opportunity for all artists in the Southeast region to come together. All local and amateur artists are welcome to join. Artists may only enter one (1) artwork per person. There is a registration fee of $10 for adults and there is no fee for ages 17 and under. A huge thank you to Good n’ Natural for sponsoring this event!

Stained-Glass workshop
