It may feel like summer in Steinbach, but the Carillon Sultans are still as cold as ice.
The Manitoba Junior Baseball League (MJBL) team could only generate four runs across their double-header with the St James A’s on May 14, losing 9-2 and 12-2 at A.D. Penner Park.
The games on Mother’s Day marked the start of the MJBL schedule, with the Sultans set to finish their regular season July 9. They’ll be back in action in Steinbach May 24 as they host Winnipeg South at 7 p.m.

The senior Carillon Sultans, which lost in the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League finals last year, are also set to begin their season. They’ll be in action May 18 in Stonewall, in a rematch of last year’s championship.
They’ll make their home debut at A.D. Penner May 23, as they face Elmwood. Opening pitch is set for 7 p.m. as well. The Springfield Senior Braves will begin their WSBL season May 17, as they faced off against the St Boniface Brewers.
The Sultans regular season will run until Aug. 1.
The full WSBL schedule is now available on the league’s website, ballcharts.com/wsbl.
