The collision occurred on First Street West, near to a marked pedestrian crossing in the community’s south end. It was reported at 8:40 a.m., police said.
A spokesperson for STARS air ambulance said the boy was taken to hospital in unstable condition.
The parking lot of the nearby Prairie Rose EMC Church was used as staging area for a ground ambulance transfer to the waiting air ambulance, which departed shortly after 10 a.m.
