Coronavirus outbreaks were declared Saturday at long-term care homes in Grunthal and Vita, while in Steinbach, where an anti-lockdown rally took place in defiance of abysmal infection rates, the virus has claimed three more lives.
Menno Home in Grunthal and the Vita and District Personal Care Home join a growing list of Southeast institutions battling outbreaks of COVID-19.
That list includes the Bethesda Regional Health Centre medicine unit, Bethesda Place, Maplewood Manor, Cedarwood Supportive Housing, Rest Haven Care Home, and Brooklyn Terrace condominiums.
Meanwhile, two men in their 70s and one in his 80s from the Southern Health region were among 15 additional deaths that occurred between Nov. 2 and Nov. 13 but were only reported today.
The Steinbach health district now has 14 deaths, representing 9.2 percent of the provincial death toll of 152.
Manitoba public health officials reported 239 new cases across Manitoba, 40 of which were in Southern Health. Steinbach now has 263 active cases.
Manitoba has 6,410 active cases with 228 people in hospital and 34 people in intensive care. The provincial five-day test-positivity rate is 12.4 percent.
