A Winnipeg man drowned Friday, after slipping into the Whitemouth River near the Elma bridge crossing.
RCMP said the 39-year-old man was on shore with family when he slipped on the rocks and fell into the river.
"Attempts were made to help the male out of the water, and a bystander was able to get a canoe in the water to assist," RCMP said in a Monday press release. "The bystander was able to get the male to shore, but he was pronounced deceased on scene."
When Lac du Bonnet RCMP arrived on the scene, CPR was being performed on the man.
