Human remains discovered last week near Oakbank are those of a Winnipeg man missing for more than a decade, a forensic examination has determined.
Roy Robert Ledoux was reported missing to the Winnipeg Police Service in October 2009, when he was 48, the WPS said last Thursday in a release.
On May 31, unidentified remains were found near a rail line east of Oakbank, setting off a search conducted by Oakbank RCMP, CP Police, the Springfield Police Service, and an anthropology team.
A subsequent forensic examination confirmed the remains belonged to Ledoux, who had last been seen in Winnipeg.
Foul play was not suspected in Ledoux’s disappearance but the WPS continues to investigate. Those with information are asked to call the Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250, or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
