A Steinbach student was one of 16 in western Canada to receive a scholarship based on their commitment to community.

Binh Vu, a student at Steinbach Christian School was awarded the $1,000 RE/MAX 2022 Quest for Excellence scholarship.

With more than 1,000 applications made, Vu was one of three Manitobans to win the award.

To qualify, students had to submit an essay detailing the contributions they have made to their communities. All recipients must demonstrate exceptional motivation, leadership and communication skills.

RE/MAX started the program in 2000 and has awarded a total of $288,000 since then.
