Peter Skjaerlund is preparing to say goodbye to his duties as the fire chief for the Rural Municipality of Tache.
Mayor Robert Rivard told The Carillon that council was informed at its last meeting that Skjaerlund was seeking to step down from the position.
Skjaerlund isn’t going far. The fire chief, Rivard noted, has recently taken on the role of utility manager with the municipality and found managing the two roles difficult, hastening the decision to step down from his role as chief.
Rivard said last week a meeting will be planned to determine the selection process.
Skjaerlund is expected to remain at the helm of the department until Oct. 1.
