Vacant Alfred Avenue home burns once again

A vacant house on Alfred Avenue caught fire late Sunday night for the third time in four months.

Crews were sent to the one-and-a-half-storey house on the 400 block of Alfred shortly before midnight and declared the fire extinguished at 1:11 a.m. Monday.

The house sustained fire, smoke and water damage. It was damaged by earlier fires on Nov. 16 and July 4.

Earlier Sunday, at 12:05 p.m., crews were sent to a vacant, single-storey commercial building on the 200 block of Logan Avenue. They declared the fire under control at 1:35 p.m.

Crews were sent to a garage fire on the 500 block of Redwood Avenue at 7:28 a.m. Sunday and found flames had spread to an adjacent house. Crews declared the fire under control at 7:46 a.m.
