Maples resident Anita Sharma Turner is nominated for the 2012 Women Entrepreneur of the Year awards in recognition for her accomplishments as a full-time realtor with RE/MAX Associates.

The annual award, which is presented by the Women Business Owners of Manitoba, recognizes today’s female pacesetters, who in turn, serve as inspiring role models to tomorrow’s emerging business leaders.

Sharma Turner is also owner of Loka Clothing, a high-end women’s wear retailer.  Loka recently celebrated the opening of the business’ second location in the Richardson Building Concourse with a fashion show and reception. The posh event was attended by more than 400 friends and well-wishers.  Those in attendance were treated to a parade of Winnipeg celebrity models sporting Loka’s finest spring and summer fashions.

Along with her husband, Sharma Turner also owns a popular new pub in the town of Gimli.

“It hasn’t been all roses and I have made a lot of mistakes along the way,” says Sharma Turner while reflecting on her personal successes. “Lately there have been some roses though often it’s still just tulips. But, I feel good about where things are going.”

Sharma Turner is also active in local charities. Currently, her Team Loka is in the middle of a successful campaign to raise $11,000 for CancerCare Manitoba.

A proud graduate of Maples Collegiate, Sharma Turner’s warmth, enthusiasm and hard-work is a solid combination for success.

The Women Entrepreneur of the Year awards will be announced at a gala dinner on May 17.
