Chris Mitton (left), eight-year-old shepherd mix Boomer, and Quinn Nitychoruk are organizing Getting Furry for Furry Friends, a fundraiser for the Winnipeg Humane Society (WHS). Mitton will be shearing his face smooth for a beard-growing drive with the goal of raising $10,000 in one year for WHS. On Sat., July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mitton, Nitychoruk, and some furry visitors from WHS will be at Princess Auto, 515 Panet Rd. for a barbecue, music, face painting, and balloon animals to help raise money. T-shirts will also be for sale at $25 each or two for $35, with all proceeds going to the society, where Boomer is currently up for adoption.
