Access CU prepares for director elections

If you’re an Access Credit Union member, you’ll soon be able to cast a ballot within your branch for the upcoming board elections.
Access CU’s marketing co-ordinator Glenda Lepage said members can vote for director candidates using computers that will be set up in each branch from March 21 to 28.
Four director positions are open, with the deadline for nominations set for Jan. 17. One of the openings is for the west region’s board member, and the Access CU branches in Oak Bluff and Sanford are located in this region. Information on the nomination process is available on the credit union’s website at www.accesscu.ca
Lepage said the main criteria for nominees are that they are Access CU members and live in the region that they wish to represent on the board.
Once the candidates have been confirmed, Lepage said short biographies will be prepared for each person. This information will be available in all Access CU branches and on the website.
“We want to increase member participation in the election,” she said.
Once the voting for the west, east and central region’s directors ends on March 28, the unelected candidates’ names will stand for the sole position of director-at-large. Voting for this is scheduled from April 11 to 19.
The results of the election will be announced at the credit union’s annual general meeting on April 24.
Lepage encourages all Access members to take a few minutes, when they are banking in a branch, to cast their ballot.
