Pembina Trails School Division, Ward 3 candidates

The candidates running for school trustee in the Pembina Trails School Division – Ward 3 are incumbents Julie Fisher and Laureen Goodridge, as well as Marty Danielson, Osaed Khan, Kathleen McMillan, and Cindy Nachtigall. Three will be elected.

Laureen Goodridge

Laureen Goodridge has represented Ward 3 of Pembina Trails School Division for 16 years. She and her husband have lived in Fort Richmond for 30 years. Her children attended and graduated from Pembina Trails schools. In addition to working as a trustee, she is the executive director of a health regulatory body; prior to that she was a paralegal in private industry. She is passionate about the education and success of children and believes that an excellent education is the right of every child. She will continue to make this her priority 

Osaed Khan

After graduating high school from Fort Richmond Collegiate, Osaed Khan, 34 completed B.Sc. and B.Ed. degrees at the University of Manitoba. He has been teaching for over 10 years, currently at the University of Winnipeg.

He says it is important to give back to the community from which he has gained so much.  Winnipeg is where he was born and where he is now raising his family. He is wholeheartedly motivated to work for the community – to engage, to listen, to share, to bring about positive change for families.

Julie Fisher

Kathleen McMillan

Kathleen McMillan, 57, retired from provincial public service after 30 years, having held the position of director of fnance and administration for Healthy Child Manitoba. Her passion for child-centred public policy resulted in a 14-year career with Healthy Child Manitoba. She was honoured to have contributed in the development of a nationally recognized strategy of provincial programs and services. and she is eager to face the challenges within the education system as we shift into a 21st century learning model and prepare students for the future by providing flexible learning opportunities rich in information and communication technology.

Cindy Nachtigall

Cindy Nachtigall, 55, is a parent, community liaison, and passionate advocate for education. She has been an active resident of the community at a grassroots level for over 35 years and raised three daughters who attended K-12 in our division. Cindy is an experienced committee member and community partner with vital organizations such as WRHA, Healthy Start Programs, Manitoba Housing and Pembina Trails Library. She has dedicated over 14 years to serving South Winnipeg as Family Program Leader and Community Connector for the Fort Garry/St. Norbert Healthy Child Coalition. Cindy is committed to enhancing the educational journey for children, families and educators.

Marty Danielson

Marty Danielson and his wife have two children and he believes he will bring a unique skill set to the Pembina Trails School Division board of trustees. He is a manager with the Department of Labour and Immigration, Workplace Safety and Health. He also sits on the board of directors of Safety Services Manitoba.

He has been invited to present, train and work on numerous occasions with the Department of Education, Manitoba school boards, Manitoba Association of School Business Officials, Manitoba Association of School Trustees, Manitoba Teachers Society and various support groups. He believes he has a firm understanding of the issues within schools today and says he would love the opportunity to work for the people of Pembina Trails School Division.
