Starbuck Credit Union to merge with Noventis

Starbuck Credit Union’s board president Doug Mosset is optimistic about the proposed amalgamation with the larger Noventis Credit Union.
“We’re going to be able to maintain competitive pricing,” he said.
Starbuck Credit Union operates branches in Starbuck and Headingley, with a total of about 4,430 members and assets totalling $189 million. Noventis has nine branches in communities north of Winnipeg, including Winnipeg Beach, Gimli and Arborg. The amalgamation would make the combined credit unions the ninth-largest credit union in Manitoba with $732 million in assets, according to a news release.
Mosset said the Starbuck branches would take the Noventis name.
Members of both credit unions are scheduled to vote on the amalgamation in May. If approved, it will become official on Oct. 1, 2015.
Mosset said Starbuck Credit Union members will be informed of the date and location of the vote.
He foresees more job opportunities for the credit union’s 23 employees if they become part of the larger co-operative.
He said that the Starbuck and Headingley branches will continue to support their local communities.
