Caisse Financial Group, headquartered in St. Boniface, will soon welcome over 2,500 new members at its new 27th branch.

The members of La Salle Credit Union voted 92.5 per cent in favor of amalgamation with Caisse Financial Group at a special meeting on April 7 at Kingswood Golf & Country Club in La Salle, Man. The amalgamation will take effect on Oct. 1, 2015.

Caisse Financial Group is the only bilingual financial institution in Manitoba, with 240 employees offering financial services to over 30,000 members in 26 communities and neighborhoods across the province. With assets exceeding $1 billion, the Caisse is ranked seventh among caisses and credit unions in Manitoba and 28th in Canada (excluding Québec).

President of Caisse Financial Group, Réal Déquier, is happy to welcome La Salle back into the Caisse family, La Salle having been a caisse populaire from 1953 to 2003.

“We are pleased to reintegrate La Salle into the Caisse branch network, thereby increasing our assets and members and providing economies of scale that will make us more efficient and more competitive in the market. We are looking forward to offering our services and our support to La Salle and its surrounding communities,” Déquier said in a news release.

La Salle Credit Union (45 Rue Principle) operates a single branch in La Salle, with $90 million in assets. CEO Daniel Dion said he believes the amalgamation will go smoothly.

“The Caisse Financial Group has been a trusted partner of LSCU for years as it has been providing our banking system and technological services. As such, they already have an intimate knowledge of our operations which will greatly simply the amalgamation and cause less disruption for our members,” Dion said.
