Kyanna Giles and William Sesay are the best basketball players in the province, and they’ve got the awards to prove it.

The 2015 Basketball Manitoba Awards were presented on April 18 at Victoria Inn Hotel & Convention Centre, with Giles and Sesay named AAAA Female Player of the Year and AAAA Male Player of the Year, respectively.

Sesay, a Grade 12 student at Oak Park High School, led the Raiders to a provincial AAAA basketball championship on March 23. Giles, a Grade 11 student at Sisler High School, won the award for a second straight year after leading the Spartans to a provincial AAAA basketball championship on March 23.

The Male All-Manitoba Team is comprised of Torrez McKoy (Mennonite Brethren), Dharmjit Dhillon (Kildonan East), Emmanuel Akot (Kildonan East), William Kohler (Oak Park) and James Wagner (John Taylor).

The Female All-Manitoba Team is comprised of Kyanna Giles’ twin sister Kyia Giles (Sisler), Jordan Tully (Oak Park), Lana Mackic (Miles Macdonell), Sentilla Bubb (Sisler) and Keylyn Filewich (Vincent Massey).

AAAA Boys Coach of the Year went to Garden City’s Phil Penner, while AAAA Girls Coach of the Year went to Oak Park’s Murray Brown.
