St. Mary’s Academy firstbegan accepting students in 1869 but didn’t take root at its current location at Wellington and Academy Road until 1903. Today, St. Mary’s Academy remains the oldest, continuously operating independent school in the province.

“SMA is noted for its commitment to young women and for providing exceptional academic, religious, and extra-curricular programs,” said Gaudes, herself a graduate of the class of 1983.

The school will be open to alumnae, friends and family from 2 to 3:45 p.m. All alumnae are welcome and encouraged to come back to school and celebrate with former classmates and teachers. The Academy will be active with students and staff engaged in various activities throughout. At 3:45 p.m. guests are invited to join the Alumnae Association for  its annual general meeting, followed by mass in the SMA chapel.
