The Transcona Nationals continue to dominate the Midget Football League of Manitoba.

On Sept. 26, the Nationals got the best of the Falcons once again, defeating the squad from Greendell 48-1.

Going into their game against the Greendell Falcons on Sept. 26, not only were the Nationals undefeated, but they had yet to allow a single point to be scored against them.

“We go in day to day, game to game,” Hoel said. “We’re trying to keep the guys focused and grounded. It’s exceptional to go a whole season without getting scored on. We’re saying, if we get scored against, we’ll just move on.”

Transcona previously faced Greendell on Aug. 28, steamrolling the Falcons 52-0.

The Nationals had a bye week the week of Sept. 11. They also enjoyed an extra week off when the Sunrise Coyotes failed to field a complete lineup and were forced to forfeit on Sept. 4.

“It was a little disappointing for our guys, but we understood,” Nationals’ head coach Steve Hoel told The Herald.

Hoel said the team remained active during their two gameless weeks.

“We ran a couple pretty hard practices during our bye week, to make sure our guys stayed focused.”

Coming back from two weeks off, the Nationals showed no lack of drive. The Nationals stomped the Southwest Wolves 47-0 when the two squads squared off on Sept. 19.

“We had the same focus in mind,” Hoel said. “The guys came out and played well. Our offense is starting to click. Our running back, Josh Kubas, had an amazing game.”
