Noventis Credit Union members in Starbuck will soon move their accounts across Main Street as the new branch is set to open for business on May 2.

“We’re going to be moving over in the last week of April,” Noventis Credit Union CEO Kevin McKnight said.

The grand opening will be held in early June.

The Starbuck Credit Union members voted in favour of merging with Noventis in 2015 and the merger took effect on Oct. 1. McKnight said the decision to construct a new branch was made by the former Starbuck Credit Union board.

“It was just time to look at a new facility,” McKnight said.

He said the new location will feature an interactive teller machine – just the third one of its type in Manitoba. These machines allow the user to interact in real time via video with a credit union staff member, and the Starbuck machine will be available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. six days a week.

“We’re the only ones in Manitoba to have this technology,” McKnight said.

A decision hasn’t yet been made on what will happen with the current Starbuck branch location at 16 Main St. “We’re looking at different options at this point,” McKnight said.
