Pool upgrades enhance aquatic experience

The Seven Oaks Pool will soon be a unique, one-of-a-kind, aquatic destination in Winnipeg.  

 

Originally built in 1977, the facility was last renovated in 1995. The new upgrades will add to an already great facility serving the growing population in the northwest quarter of the city. The renovations, scheduled to begin in the spring of 2017, include exciting improvements that are designed for a modern and family friendly aquatic experience. 

Adding to the already established presence of the Seven Oaks Pool, these additions will expand the public aquatic activities available to families in the area, including an innovative new indoor spray pad. When parents are looking for safe, fun, and exciting activities during the winter, these proposed changes will be a welcome destination. 

With funding support from all three levels of government, funds will be invested to add family change rooms, universally accessible washrooms, an enhanced public lobby, new meeting space, and a small teaching pool.

The creation of the indoor spray pad is the first of its kind in Winnipeg, making recreation and family movement goals a priority, especially in cooler months.

Community members and visitors will have the opportunity to experience aquatics in a modern and up-to-date facility that also includes improved accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Gathering together as families and neighbours throughout the year will be easier with improved common areas and change areas. 

The Seven Oaks Pool is more than just a major aquatic facility in the north end of the City of Winnipeg. It offers a variety of programs and services, including public swim, swimming lessons, fitness, youth swim and leadership courses. The facility is located adjacent to the Maples Collegiate and the Maples Community Centre and serves residents of all abilities and varying cultures.

During construction, the Seven Oaks Pool will remain closed to the public until mid -2018.  However, the extensive renovations and addition of the new indoor spray pad will be a lasting legacy and a key recreation asset to a healthy, active lifestyle.
