Rosenau Transport Ltd. president Ken Rosenau said economic success has prompted his company’s move into a larger facility at 1000 King Edward St.
The former Canada Safeway distribution centre is located within CentrePort Canada, Manitoba’s 20,000-acre inland port and Foreign Trade Zone that lies within the City of Winnipeg and RM of Rosser.
Rosenau Transport has 24 terminals in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The first Manitoba terminal was opened in Brandon in 2000, then customer demand resulted in the opening of a Winnipeg terminal in 5,000 square-feet of rented space within CentrePort Canada in January 2016.
“I knew that once we opened our Winnipeg location, it would take off, but I didn’t expect it to be that fast,” Rosenau said.
The company now has 140,000 square-feet of space, and Rosenau said he expects to soon fill the warehouse and possibly increase the number of local employees.
“This facility is well-suited to our needs,” he said.
“We are excited that the former Safeway distribution centre has been repurposed and complements Rosenau’s significant expansion plans,” Diane Gray, president and CEO of CentrePort Canada Inc. said in a news release. “Investing in an existing building has also allowed Rosenau to get up to operating speed quickly so they can continue to grow their business at North America’s largest inland port.”
The announcement of Rosenau’s expansion was quickly followed by another stating that Goodman Manufacturing Group and Ply Gem Canada are leasing space in a newly constructed 56,000-square-foot multi-tenant building at 127 Mountainview Rd. in Brookside Business Park located within the RM of Rosser.
Goodman, an HVAC distributor and manufacturer, set up their first distribution centre in CentrePort in 2014. The company outgrew its original space and now has 28,000 square-feet for an office, showroom, training centre and warehouse.
“We have seen tremendous growth since we first opened our branch in CentrePort,” Goodman branch manager Scott Croghan said in a news release. “Our new facility will provide us with access to expressways like CentrePort Canada Way and the Perimeter Highway, which ensures our trucks are moving at highway speeds within minutes of leaving our warehouse. The increased space also supports our operational and employee growth strategy.”
Ply Gem is a Canadian manufacturer of exterior building products.
Shindico Realty manages the development of Brookside Business Park and assisted in building the rental facility at 127 Mountainview Rd.
