Like most people, we find tackling a home renovation project is a daunting and expensive task.
Any home improvements can become quite costly in a hurry so it is important to prioritize what needs to be done rather than what you want done. Giving yourself time to figure out what is top of your list and researching the proper materials and contractors is key.
At our house, one of the projects we decided to highlight this year was replacing some of our original windows and our patio door.
There are many window and door products promising all the latest and greatest features and length of life but not all are created equal.
When it came time to replace our basement windows with something more modern, we went with a local company, Charleswood Glass.
Run by Craig Nichol and started by his brother Blaine in 1993, Charleswood Glass provides a down-to-earth, community feel with quality products and reliable service.
Blaine is now retired so Craig, who used to work in the aviation industry overhauling jet engines, has taken the reins of the company.
When it came time for our project, we found Craig to be thorough with the measurements along with being gracious and accommodating when completing our assessment.
Charleswood Glass’ supplier is Humphrey Windows, which does not sell directly to the public, only to contractors, which allows Charleswood Glass to keep prices in check and quality high. Charleswood Glass’ main product lines include windows, exterior entry doors and sealed units.
Installation day for our windows went off without a hitch and it almost felt like we had visitors over rather than contractors for the day. It was the same when our old, tired patio door was replaced with a new garden door.
We were very impressed with the quality of the product and by the care they took during installation.
Sometimes you can search and search for what you want when all you need to do is look in your own backyard.
Charleswood Glass’ service radius encompasses the entire city of Winnipeg and approximately one hour beyond, including Gimli.
