Nomination period wraps up for city council, civic election set for Oct. 24

The period or candidates declaring their nomination for city council closed Sept. 18. Here are the nominees for city council positions in southeast Winnipeg for the upcoming civic election on Oct. 24.

St. Boniface

• Coun. Matt Allard is seeking re-election. Allard was elected to council in 2014.

• Marcel Boille is also running for council in the ward.

St. Vital

• Coun. Brian Mayes is seeking re-election. Mayes was first elected to council in 2011 in a byelection.

• Baljeet Sharma is also running for council in the ward.

St. Norbert-Seine River

In the newly formed ward of St. Norbert-Seine River, there are five candidates seeking election with no incumbent.

Candidates are:

• Markus Chambers;

• Glenn Churchill;

• Nancy Cooke;

• Chris Davis; and

• Nikolas Joyal.

School trustees also on the ballot

School trustees throughout Winnipeg are also up for election on Oct. 24. The following are running for positions in the Louis Riel School Division:

Ward 1 (two to be elected)

• Louise Johnston;

• Claude Plante;

• Tanya Pomanski; and

• Cindy Turner.

Ward 2 (two to be elected)

• Mark Olfert;

• Robert Page;

• Rodger Salm; and

• Chris Sigurdson.

Ward 3 (three to be elected)

• Denisa Gavan-Koop;

• Ajay Gupta;

• Josie Landry;

• Sandy Nemeth;

• Ian Richardson; and

• Neil Vadeboncoeur.

Ward 4 (two to be elected)

• Hugh Coburn;

• Darcy Collignon;

• Pamela Kolochuk;

• Jay Myshkowsky; and

• Tom Parker.
