I hope this column finds you well, and that you had a Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season with family and friends.

Once again, generosity was on great display right here in Riel. I want to thank everyone who generously contributed to The Shoebox Project for Shelters by dropping off shoeboxes and in-kind gifts at my constituency office this past month.

I also want to thank everyone who helped me collect clothing donations for Klinic Community Centres to aid victims of sexual assault. Your donations contributed to supporting women leaving crisis situations and helping them create a foundation to rebuild their lives.

I want to thank everyone who donated to the Atticus McIlraith Baby Formula Drive, in a commitment to ending hunger among babies in Winnipeg. I’m grateful for people like Atticus and all of you in Riel who donated in a big way to Winnipeg Harvest. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for caring. I was grateful spending time getting to know volunteers who generously offered their time to St.Amant by wrapping presents for Christmas shoppers at St. Vital Mall.

I wish to thank to all my fellow volunteers and everyone who brought us their presents for wrapping, and in exchange helped raise thousands of dollars for the many families who depend on St.Amant to live fulfilling lives.

The Canadian Tire Jumpstart Fully Accessible Rink has officially opened. I was thrilled to be part of the official launch and ribbon cutting on Dec. 11, for the first of its kind outdoor skating rink in Manitoba. Our government was proud to contribute $50,000 to this important project at Dakota Community Centre, right here in the heart of Riel. Congratulations to everyone in the community who helped make it happen!

I was happy to host a Christmas Coffee Party at Greendell Park Community Centre on Dec. 14. It was great to see so many of you. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to come on down for a coffee, snacks, and to spread holiday cheer.

It was a wonderful opportunity to get out in the community to hear your priorities and engage in lively conversation. As we look ahead to 2019, I am renewing my commitment to serve our community with honour, integrity, and generosity. I will be resuming my monthly Coffee & Conversations in the New Year on Sat., Jan. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at my constituency office located at 5 – 140 Meadowood Dr.
