On April 2 the new heliport on the Portage District General Hospital campus was officially opened. The heliport was put into operation last month, following certification from Transport Canada for compliance with Canadian aviation regulations. In its first month of operation, the heliport was used five times by STARS.
The heliport was opened by (from left) STARS chief executive officer Andrea Robertson; Southern Health-Santé Sud chief executive officer Jane Curtis; Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living Cameron Friesen; MLA for Portage la Prairie Ian Wishart; and Portage District General Hospital Foundation chair Dale Lyle.
