Red River CC welcomes new volunteers

Red River Community Centre is located at 293 Murray Rd. in the Riverbend neighbourhood and is the home of the Red River Coyotes.

The community centre offers approximately six programs for children, youth, and adults. Children and youth can participate in softball, hardball, soccer, mini-soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. Open gym runs every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. from October to June. Kids can also enjoy the skateboard park that is open seasonally.

During the winter months, families can skate together at the centre’s rinks from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 9 p.m. on weekends.

The community centre is always welcoming new volunteers that can help out by coaching, working at the wind-up or Mini Jamboree, or selling raffle tickets. Even those who don’t have kids in sports are encouraged to volunteer since the centre is open to everyone in the community. If you wish to volunteer call 204-339-5345.

Adults can attend zumba classes on Mondays from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. from September to June. Drop-in costs $10, or there’s an $80 pass that includes 10 classes.

RRCC also hosts a dietitian information seminar every second Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. from September to June.

The community centre rents its facility for socials, showers and birthday parties. Their hall costs $1,800 for a social from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. (for a Halloween social the cost goes up to $2,000). The fee includes setup and takedown of the tables and chairs, three bartenders, unlimited corkage, cups, ice, and pop.

Rental of the hall for a shower for 300 people costs $400 for four hours and includes set up and takedown and use of the kitchen.

They also rent their multi-purpose room for an event that can accommodate 64 people. Rental costs $200 for four hours and includes setup and takedown and use of the kitchen. For bookings, call 204-334-6688.

RRCC is open for the community from 4:30 to 9 p.m. every day from September to March, and times vary the rest of the year.
