Osborne Village attack sends three to hospital
Two men are facing charges of aggravated assault after a late night attack in Osborne Village.
Winnipeg police say on April 28, around 2:30 a.m., emergency crews were called to the 100 block of Osborne Street.
First responders found three adult men suffering from serious injuries. They were taken to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable.
About 15 minutes later, general patrol officers found and arrested two suspects in the area.
The major crimes unit took over the investigation and believe the three men who were attacked were walking on the Osborne Street bridge when they were confronted by the suspects.
Police say a verbal argument escalated to a physical fight and two of the victims were stabbed. Police say the two groups did not know each other.
Jameson Ly, 21, and Anthony The Cuong Ross, 21, have both been charged with three counts of aggravated assault and were detained in custody.

Police say the woman was out for a walk around 6 p.m. when she was confronted by three male youth who hit her with pepper-spray and an undisclosed weapon before fleeing.
The woman was treated for her injuries at the scene.
The following day, investigators with the Winnipeg police major crimes unit arrested three suspects.

Take a virtual tour of Canada’s Diversity Gardens
Assiniboine Park Conservancy has released a new virtual tour of the signature biome of Canada’s Diversity Gardens.
The Leaf biome, scheduled to open in late 2020 in the southeast corner of the park, and the surrounding gardens are the last major phase of the redevelopment plan for Assiniboine Park and Zoo.
Construction of The Leaf began in summer 2017. The late 2020 opening timeline is contingent on two major seasonal deadlines, that must be completed in warm weather: the installation of the specialized roof in early fall 2019, and the planting of the biomes in summer 2020.
Officials say the Class 1 cost estimate for the project is $97.8 million.
To date, $79.5 million has been raised with support from all levels of government, private donors, and other sources.
“The level of public support that has been demonstrated for the Canada’s Diversity Gardens project and the overall redevelopment is tremendous and confirms the deep-rooted commitment our community has for our original vision, this project, and the future of Assiniboine Park and Zoo,” Margaret Redmond, president and chief executive officer, said.
