Hi Reena,
I’m Looking for suggestions on a solution to clean the visor of a hockey mask. I have used baby shampoo in the past, for some reason this is not working as well.
David
Dear David,
Changing water sources can make a difference on the outcome of the visor. While there are several commercial products on the market designed to clean visors, you can also use Dawn dish soap, water and a very soft microfibre cloth. The combination of soap and alcohol is often all you need for this project. Rinse well and dry with a soft eyeglass or good quality microfibre cloth.

Dear Reena,
I have attempted to remove a wedding photo from a picture frame; however, the bottom portion of the photo is stuck to the glass. Is there any way to remove the photo without damaging it?
Violet
Dear Violet,
Unfortunately, the success rate of removing a photo stuck to glass is not great. Some people have shared that heating the photo with a hair dryer is pretty effective at loosening the glue. Others have had success submerging the image in water to release the glue; but then the paper quality is compromised. Dental floss is another option used by professional photo restorers to gently lift photos off glass. You would be wise to use your phone, camera or scanner to take a new copy of the photo stuck on the frame. That way if the photo tears, you will still have the image in your possession.

Re: Brown sugar
Hi Reena,
I keep all baking and brown sugar in a covered tin can; no problem with it ever becoming hard. This also works for all baking items that are fresh such as: nuts, marshmallows, and raisins. Give it a try, I love it!

Re: Slicing pizza
A recent column asked if you had any ideas of how to cut pizza without damaging the pan. Forty-plus years ago my sister-in-law told me to use household kitchen scissors to cut up pizza. Miracle of miracles! I have never used anything else. I am very surprised that many do not know of this marvellous trick.

Cleaning a Carrier
• To clean a leather bag, wipe with dish soap and water. Rinse with water. Use only a small amount of water, do not soak the textile.

• I had a very dirty purse; it had taken on a drab, grey appearance. I filled a bowl with vinegar and baking soda. I then dipped a cloth into the bowl, and then scrubbed the bag. It actually worked, and now the bag looks brand-new!
