A new Dynacare supersite is open for business at the south end of Pembina Highway, improving access to routine blood work and national testing services.

The spacious, accessible office at 2077 Pembina Hwy. offers an improved customer experience, as more people can be safely accommodated at once, according to Dr. Jenisa Naidoo, chief scientific officer, medical director and vice-president of clinical development and quality assurance at Dynacare.

“We chose this location at the Pembina Village centre as it has easy access to transit and plenty of free parking,” Naidoo said, adding the site will serve residents of Fort Garry, Fort Richmond and Waverley Heights.

The new location features eight cubicles where technicians can serve customers.

“There is plexiglass between the chairs to help keep our customers safe,” she said, adding the building includes accessible washrooms. “Our staff also have a nice working area, which they’re enjoying very much.”

This is the seventh Dynacare supersite opened in Winnipeg and the third since the fall of 2020.

Construction of the site was slowed by COVID-19, Naidoo noted.

“The pandemic did have an effect on the speed, with renovations slower because the contractors had to wait on materials and permits,” she said. “But we got it done, and we’re happy to be serving people of south Winnipeg.”

The waiting room can accommodate 10 patients at one time, which will bump up to 40 patients once pandemic restrictions are lifted, Naidoo said.

Dynacare services on site include blood draws and drop-off of urine and stool samples, which are sent to their main lab for analysis.

“We have two technicians who can work with more difficult patients, including doing neonatal (pediatric) patients,” she said, adding staff wear full personal protective equipment and perform sanitization between patients.

The south Pembina location offers extended hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and also on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Appointments can be booked online.
