Keeping busy in Waverley this summer

The summer season is off to a beautiful start and it has been non-stop activities from the spring season up till now. The month of June was Filipino Heritage month as well as commemoration of the Eid Al-Adha celebrations. It was thoroughly enjoyable for me to join small and large gatherings that celebrated these important community events.

In recent weeks, it is heartwarming to see that the PC government continues to keep promises of making increased investment in the health sector. In addition to this, over $1 million has been allocated to the Winnipeg Police towards enhancing crime prevention.

The business landscape in Waverley continues to bloom as our constituents expanded their existing businesses by opening more outlets for operations. Some of them were Pizza Pizza, Ajo Pro, Prairie Donair Bridgwater, and North Track Transport. It was an honor to join in celebrating these business milestones. All through the month, I had constructive engagements with constituents. Kudos to all those who stopped by the office to either pay a courtesy visit or share ideas on how we can provide interventions for our constituents.

The end of the school year was busy and productive as I hosted young students on a field trip at the legislative building and also visited schools to present awards and acknowledge the great work being done by our teachers. As part of Canada Day celebrations, we had colourful events hosted by Winnipeg Chinese Senior Association and South Winnipeg Community Center. The turnout was massive and the eye popping cultural displays were unforgettable. With the lovely summer weather out there, it was fun to also officially help kickoff the Canada Africa Cup of Nations-Manitoba, which is currently going on.
