Sometimes, it’s all in the name.

Angela Taylor, founder and CEO of Inspire Community Outreach, recently announced she’ll be leaving the south Winnipeg-based organization after more than 10 years.

Inspire, located at 850 Pembina Hwy., was founded in October 2013 to support community members in ways that weren’t being addressed at that time. The non-profit social services agency provides family-centred education and programming designed to meet the needs of those living with mental health issues and neurological or cognitive differences.

Angela Taylor, founder and CEO of Inspire Community Outreach, recently announced she’ll be leaving the south Winnipeg-based organization after more than 10 years.

While she’ll be leaving the charity to allow someone else to take the baton, Taylor hopes to continue to inspire community members and extend her outreach wearing slightly different hats, including potentially working more in a clinical practice capacity. More to follow, in that respect.

To help celebrate Taylor’s departure, an upcoming farewell fundraising event will be held, at which the Southdale resident will share stories and lessons, followed by a performance by local comedian Big Daddy Tazz. The event will be held on Sunday, April 28 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Park Theatre (698 Osborne St.). Tickets are $25 in advance, and $30 at the door.

“I love Big Daddy Tazz, he’s a longtime supporter of ours,” Taylor said. “To be able to celebrate this milestone with him is an honour.”

“He’s so kind-hearted, and so honest about his own struggles.”

Calling the Park Theatre “a bit of a Winnipeg treasure,” Taylor is looking forward to the fundraiser.

“It’s going to be really special. For us, we made it through the pandemic, and we support thousands of people a year. We’re in an enormous phase of growth right now, our clinical team is growing to offer more services, and we have a number of partnerships, including a beautiful partnership with NorWest Co-op Community Health,” she said.

“I think we have revolutionized community care, and we aim to be excellent listeners, which is an important piece.”

Despite leaving her current role, Taylor hopes to stay on as a part-time director at Inspire. She said people are welcome to show their support by donating to the cause, sharing information on social media, or donating prizes to the event.
