As the first signs of spring begin to emerge, it’s wonderful to see so many of our neighbours in our community outside on walks, riding bikes, utilizing the community centres, basketball courts, fields, and more.
February brought I Love to Read Month, a wonderful opportunity to inspire a passion for reading in our youth. I had the honor of reading G is for Golden Boy to students at Henry G. Izatt School, Whyte Ridge Elementary, and Linden Christian School. The enthusiasm of the young readers at these schools was truly heartwarming, and it reaffirmed the importance of education and literacy in shaping our community’s future.
The current legislative session began on March 6, and it has been very busy, especially in my role as the shadow minister for finance. The release of the NDP government’s budget on April 2 has raised concerns about overspending projections. I am committed to advocating for responsible fiscal management that prioritizes the needs of Manitobans and ensures a prosperous future for our province.

In addition to my legislative duties, I’ve had the privilege of joining various community events. From the 36th Annual Sons and Daughters of Italy Gala supporting the Children’s Hospital, to the Whyte Ridge Community Centre annual general meeting, the third annual Ice Fishing Festival at Fort Whyte Alive, and the Kendo Tournament at the Linden Woods Community Centre, these gatherings have showcased the strength and diversity of our community.
Connecting with each of you is a privilege that I hold dear. Whether it’s through events, meetings, or your messages, I am committed to being accessible and responsive to your concerns and ideas. Please feel free to reach out to me at office@obbykhan.ca or 204-691-0720 with any questions or suggestions.
Together we can continue to nurture our vibrant community and work towards a brighter, more inclusive future for Fort Whyte and our province.
