Winnipeg city councillors John Orlikow (River Heights-Fort Garry) and Brian Mayes (St. Vital) celebrate the recent resurfacing of the running track at Grant Park High School. Funds for the new, rubberized, all-weather surface came from the 2024 city budget, along with contributions from both councillors’ ward allowances. One of Mayes’ projects as councillor has been to ensure that all areas of the city have access to all-weather tracks. Projects have since been completed at Grant Park, Garden City Collegiate, Nelson McIntyre Collegiate, River East Collegiate, Victor Mager School, and Windsor Park Collegiate/Collège Béliveau.
