The last 12 months were busy for local Members of Parliament — and 2025 is projected to be even more hectic, with a federal election slated for October, at the latest.

Raquel Dancho, Conservative Party of Canada MP for Kildonan-St. Paul, said that, in addition to her work in the House of Commons and preparing for a busy year of politics, she remains laser-focused on highlighting the importance of establishing a national silver alert system for missing seniors with cognitive impairments.

Dec. 13 marked the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of 81-year-old Earl Moberg, who suffers from dementia, in the River East area. Dancho has sponsored a petition on behalf of the Moberg family, and continues to collect signatures.

“I’ve sponsored, with the family, a petition to establish a silver alert program, for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia,” Dancho said. “This would be an important local initiative, as it would allow the community to be on the lookout for vulnerable seniors.”
