Ride for Dad to take place on May 31
The 17th annual Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad will take place on Saturday, May 31.
The annual event is a fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation, which supports prostate cancer research and education. Since its inception, the event has raised $5 million in Manitoba, with over $34 million nationwide.

This year’s ride will begin outside of Earl’s Polo Park. The route continues with a police escorted parade west on Portage Avenue to Assiniboia Downs, then on to Selkirk, Gimli and back for the wind-up event at Cowboys, Canad Inns Windsor Park. Pre-registration will take place between 4 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30.

Winnipeg Public Library seeking its next writer-in-residence
Winnipeg Public Library is inviting applications for its 2025-2026 writer-in-residence program.
According to a recent release, the writer-in-residence works with emerging Manitoba writers through individual consultations online, in person, by email, and by phone.
The chosen candidate will also offer group workshops and a writing circle, and the residency includes time to work on a personal writing project, officials say.
The residency term will run from Oct. 1 to April 30, 2026. Applications are due on June 4.
