Sara Riel to hold mental health and wellness expo on Oct. 9
St. Vital-based Sara Riel will soon hold its 13th annual mental health and wellness expo.
According to the organization’s website, the event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1188 Dakota St.
The expo, which is free and open to everyone, will give attendees the chance to resources, services and networking focused on mental health and wellness, organizers say.
Sara Riel provides community-based support to individuals who experience issues with mental illness or mental health challenges, including substance-use disorders and addiction. These include mental health counselling, community peer support, respite and employment services, and housing options.

Advance voting underway for Elmwood-EK, Louis Riel School Division byelections
Residents of Elmwood-East Kildonan and Louis Riel School Division Ward 3 can now vote in advance of the Saturday, Oct. 25 byelection.
Candidates for the city council seat in Elmwood-East Kildonan are Christian Swerdya, Braydon Mazurkiewich, Emma Durand-Wood, Zekaria Selahadin, Carmen Prefontaine, Abel Gutierrez, and Kyle Roche.
Candidates for the LRSD Ward 3 school trustee position are Susanne Dandenault, Ben Singer, and Peter Bjornson.
Advance voting at City Hall (510 Main St.) is underway, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekedays, until Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Advance voting will also be held in Elmwood-E.K. at Chalmers Community Centre (480 Chalmers Ave.), and in Louis Riel School Division at Collège Jeanne Sauvé between Oct. 14 and 16 from 4 to 8 p.m.
All voters must bring valid identification showing their name and current address, such as a driver’s licence, in order to vote. Voters are encouraged to bring their voters notice to streamline the process.
