On April 14, the Assiniboia community committee approved plans for four six-storey apartment buildings on County Meadow Boulevard, with a total of 416 units over two phases.
An extension until March 27, 2027 was granted for the subdivision and rezoning south of Bridgeland Drive through Bridlewood Road and Prominence Point.
Non-conforming approaches for 172 and 300 Pathfinder Tr., and 30 and 114 Roaming Pl., in Bison Run, were approved.
A public hearing was held regarding a combined secondary plan amendment, subdivision, rezoning, and variance application for 355-415 Centre St., to allow for construction of a six-storey multi-family residential building with commercial use on the main floor. All applications were approved. The subdivision will create two lots, both rezoned for commercial mixed use from land originally zoned for employment. The proposed development would include 142 dwelling units, and a total of 209 accessory parking spots. Nobody registered to oppose the applications.
“The Waverley West town centre area was created in 2010,” Coun. Janice Lukes (Waverley West) said in support. “A lot has changed in the world from the standpoint of a need for increased housing 16 years later.”
Another public hearing was held regarding the closure, subdivision and rezoning of Prairie Pointe Stage 11, west of Wheatgrass Lane, and a continuation of Skyline Drive to Waverley Street, in order to create a total of 200 single-family residential lots, plus 10 additional residential lots to be subdivided in the future, along with one small multi-family lot. At the same time, the proposal includes reconfiguring the undeveloped public streets within the area, to reduce the number of cul-de-sacs while increasing the amount of straight roads, which will increase the total number of lots and reduce the cost of building and maintaining infrastructure. The new stage would also include a park and playground. The application was approved. Nobody was registered in opposition.
A public hearing was also opened for a subdivision, rezoning, and variance application for 561 Municipal Rd., to allow to for the lot to be split into two residential lots. Nobody was registered in opposition, and the application was approved.
