Awasisak Meskanow Greenway spring cleanup is May 9
Awasisak Meskanow Greenway’s upcoming annual spring cleanup will be held on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. until around noon.
The group, formerly known as Bishop Grandin Greenway, held its first cleanup in 2000, the year the organization was founded, president Derick Young said.
There will be two check-in stations for participants — one at the group’s Eric Street community garden, and at Bittersweet Way at St. Mary’s Road and Abinojii Mikanah.
Free garbage bags will be provided, courtesy of Take Pride Winnipeg, and there will be a limited supply of garbage pickers. There will also be water for refillable bottles.
“The cleanup is a great way to meet other people in the community, including the volunteers who help run Awasisak Meskanow Greenway,” Young said.
