The St. Vital Agricultural Society was honoured in a member’s statement by St. Vital MLA Jamie Moses at the Manitoba legislature last month.

The long-standing organization was recognized for its increased work and outreach in the community. Recent SVAS activities have included a gardeners’ afternoon event at St. Mary’s Road United Church on April 11 and being part of the host committee for Manitoba Horticultural Association’s garden party at Brandon University on April 18.

SVAS has also applied for funding “for fencing of our gardens along Abinojii Mikanah, and (we’re) building raised beds for more gardening by gardeners with limited mobility,” society president Pamela McFarlane said in an email.
