Kick-off to summer in Riel

Summer is officially underway in Riel, and it has been wonderful to see our community come alive with celebrations, conversations, and recognition of the young people who make our neighbourhoods so proud.
As a former educator the start of summer to me has always been graduation season, and it was a real honour to recognize graduates from schools across Riel. Congratulations to the students of Dakota Collegiate Institute, Glenlawn Collegiate, Collège Jeanne-Sauvé, Centre scolaire Léo-Rémillard, and the MITT Adult Learning Centre. Graduation is a major milestone, the result of years of hard work, perseverance, support from teachers and families, and dedication from students themselves.
I was especially pleased to present the Riel MLA Scholarship at each of these schools. To all graduates: your community is proud of you, and we look forward to seeing you thrive in whatever endeavour you do next

I was grateful to spend Canada Day with residents at the celebration hosted by the River Park South Community Association. Events like this remind us what makes Riel such a special place to call home: families gathering, neighbours reconnecting, volunteers stepping up, and a strong sense of community spirit on full display. A sincere thank you goes out to the organizers and volunteers who made the day possible.
Over the past number of weeks, my team and I have also been out knocking on doors and speaking directly with community members across Riel. These conversations matter, and I always appreciate the chance to hear directly from residents. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to speak with us and hare your thoughts.
As summer continues, I hope everyone in Riel has the chance to enjoy time with family, friends, and neighbours. Whether it is at a community event, on the doorstep, or out and about in the neighbourhood, I look forward to continuing the conversations that help keep Riel strong, connected, and moving forward.
I once again will be hosting a community barbecue on Thursday, July 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the St. Vital Centennial Arena (580 St. Anne’s Rd.), please stop by to say hello.
