Note: Neither Manitoba New Democratic Party candidate Cindy Friesen nor Manitoba Liberal Party candidate Julia Sisler responded by press time.

How are the health care needs of Midland residents being addressed?
Blaine Pedersen (Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba): Ambulance fees have been reduced by 50 per cent to a maximum of $250. We have hired more trained paramedics, so care begins sooner for those needing emergency care. Wait times for hips, knees, and cataract surgeries are being reduced. Better health care sooner.

How can the current public education system be improved for rural Manitoba students?
Pedersen: Ongoing education review. The goal is to have our students prepared to take advantage of career opportunities here in Manitoba as our economy continues to grow and the need of high-tech jobs continues to expand.

How can the provincial government help to stimulate economic development in Midland?
Pedersen: Lower taxes, a competitive economy, and an economic development strategy including a rural economic development partner to ensure co-ordination between all levels of government for permitting requirements. Also to make sure co-ordination of water, wastewater, energy, and infrastructure needs are addressed.
