Here’s something real

Tourism Winnipeg, the organization which brought us the slogan “Winnipeg: Made from what’s real” delivered something very real this morning.

The thing in question is the Winnipeg Attractions Pass, a new discount access program that enables people to purchase one- or three-day passes for admission to five different Winnipeg attractions – the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, FortWhyte Alive, the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, the Royal Canadian Mint and the Manitoba Museum.

Winnipeggers like to say they love a discount, and buying an attraction pass will definitely be more cost-effective than buying individual admissions. Passes can be purchased online through tourismwinnipeg.com/pass and buyers will receive a link on their mobile phones (via text or email) that will enable them to add the pass icon to their home screens — there’s no app to download.

Three-day passes cost $52 for adults and $29 for children, while one-day passes are $37 for adults and $21 for kids. Once activated, a one-day pass can be used for 24 hours and, similarly, a three-day pass will expire 72 hours after it is first used.

Sounds like a deal to me — I’m curious to see how the public will react.

One of the purposes of this newsletter is to offer a select list of upcoming events and to encourage people to submit their events listings using our online events page which, I am happy and relieved to report, is at long-last back up and running.

To submit your listings, you can visit our Events listings tab in the menu bar at www.canstarnews.com

If you would like to submit an event and want to bypass all the key-pressing, you can do so here and if you simply want to see what’s going on around town, you can do so here

Keep in mind that all the previous events data was wiped when the page went down last fall, so with your help, we will be rebuilding the events database. I thank you in advance!

Enjoy the week!
