Laughs aplenty on tap

This morning’s flurry was a harbinger of things to come, as I had a flurry of appointments and consultations to deal with today. So, I haven’t got much to add to this week’s event listings other than to note that the comedy menu looks exceedingly busy.

Among the funny people stopping in town this week are British comedian Sarah Millican, who is doing two sold out shows at the Theatre formerly known as the Walker tonight and tomorrow (tomorrow is sold out and there were fewer than 10 tickets left for tonight’s show when I last checked – about three hours ago); then Louis CK, the disgraced former superstar now on the comeback trail, is doing three shows at the former Walker on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Saturday night, Nikki Glaser, the breakout star of Netflix’s live Tom Brady roast, has a sold-out show at the Club Regent Event Centre.

The locals are at it, too, as Jared Story’s Winnipeg Comedy Showcase series presents its 39th show on Friday night at the Park Theatre; the Basement Speakeasy, Rumor’s and Yuk-Yuk’s will all be busy on the weekend, and there are several open mic nights on tap, as well.

I hope this means you all get a chance to laugh this week. I’ll be back in your inboxes next Monday, April 21.

One of the purposes of Community Calendar is to offer a select list of upcoming events and to encourage people to submit their events listings to our online events page.

To submit your listings, click on the Events listings tab in the menu bar at www.fpcommunityreview.com

If you would like to submit an event and want to bypass all the key-pressing, you can do it here and if you simply want to see what’s going on around town, you can do so here
