Young Falcons player passionate about football

Jaxson Gemon is a 10-year-old Grade 5 student who attends Dawson Trail School.

“School is going really well,” Jaxson said. “My favourite class is gym. I like gym because I can play a lot of games and stay active at the same time.”

Jaxson really likes sports. He is mostly focused on football, though.

“I enjoy football because my team is like a second family to me,” he said. “I enjoy being a part of the team. I also like to tackle because I am really good at it. I play defensive middle linebacker and D-line. I like my position because I am big and strong and good at pushing and tackling.”

Jaxson plays for the Falcons Football Club and is in his fourth year playing football.

“I have six coaches,” he said. “Two of them have coached me for the past four years. They are really good coaches because they tell us to never give up when it gets hard and to stay positive even when we lose. I really like my teammates because they are super supportive and we help each other out.”

Jaxson lives in the southeast part of the city with his mom Jennifer, dad Cory, older brother Dante, and older sister Ciara-Lynn.

“I would like to say thank you to my parents for being there for me,” he said. “Thank you for being so helpful and supportive. They do so much for me, especially to get me to all my football practices and games and they always encourage me when I get tired and need to push through it.”

Jaxson is very excited for the football season to get going again this year.

“My plan for next year is to continue to play football and to get better at my position,” he said.

Jaxson has this advice for all athletes.

“Never give up, even when it’s super hard.”
