For many people, hypnosis conjures images of clucking like a chicken onstage in front of thousands, or of dramatic television and movie scenes.
For Kim Palmer, a certified hypnotherapist and owner of AquaMind Hypnosis, this couldn’t be further from the truth. She has been practicing hypnotherapy from her Royalwood home since April 2019.
“Hypnosis is a natural state that serves as a gateway for you to connect with yourself on deep levels to enhance your well-being,” Palmer explained.
To achieve certification through the Manitoba Hypnotherapists’ Association, Palmer completed 100 hours of study plus an exam and a practicum with her first client while the MHA president evaluated her work.
The process is designed to adhere to the same international standards of ethics and credibility as the National Guild of Hypnotists in the U.S.
According to the MHA’s website, hypnosis is a trance state, similar to drifting off to sleep or losing track of time while driving or reading. Hypnotherapy empowers you to change your thoughts and change your life in positive ways.
“While in hypnotic trance, your conscious mind simply steps aside, allowing your subconscious mind to communicate freely and easily,” Palmer elaborated. “You are always in control, remaining completely safe, relaxed and receptive.”
Palmer implants ideas and suggestions for mindset and behaviour modification to help clients achieve goals.
“Whether you’re dealing with fear or anxiety, or in need of extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, or looking to break old habits, or move forward in a new direction, I can help guide you to resolution and inner peace.”
Initial consultations with Palmer are free of charge and obligation. Palmer learns more about her clients and their goals to determine if hypnotherapy is a good option.
“While hypnotherapy can be used in combination with counselling or other approaches,” Palmer acknowledged, “it is never a substitute for medical attention.”
Sessions last approximately 60 minutes each and cost $90 per session. For lasting change, Palmer added, most clients choose further personalized sessions.
“I’ve been sleeping very well,” noted one client on the AquaMind website. “I have been getting up early to exercise each morning and going for a jog every night — not even thinking twice about it!”
“I am no longer having junk food cravings and find myself saying ‘no’ to stuff I would never have passed up before!”
