The Clothes Closet, a non-profit organization that collects gently used business clothing donations and provides interview outfits to women, recently got a makeover of its own with a new partnership and a new name.
Now known as Dress for Success, the Winnipeg group is part of a global network that assists women as they strive to gain meaningful employment. “We are very excited to join the Dress for Success family,” said Tricia Robinson, executive director of the South Winnipeg Family Information Centre, which runs the Dress for Success program. “This means a stable, sustainable future for the program, including the potential to grow — plus the chance to share with and learn from women around the world is a huge benefit.”
Clients of Dress for Success are referred to the program through a network of job training and social service agencies throughout the city. “We don’t always know the story of each woman that we meet but we meet them at a key turning point in their lives when they are ready to tackle a new challenge,” Robinson said. “They may have completed a training program, achieved a new qualification, or are looking to apply their skills in a new place.”
The program accepts donations of gently used women’s business attire, jewelry, accessories and outerwear. “We make sure each client leaves with a complete outfit and additional pieces to mix and match at no cost,” Robinson said. “We want our clients to leave feeling fabulous, confident and ready for business.”
Donations can be dropped off at 800 Point Rd., lower level, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. To volunteer, or for more information, visit winnipeg.dressforsuccess.org
